Asseco brings aboard power forward Jagla

Just couple of days ago Jan-Hendrik Jagla finished playing at Eurobasket2009 tournament in Poland. Today he penned one year contract with Polish Champions.

German National Basketball Team was competing at European basketball championship group stage in Gdańsk. Germans lost to Latvia (-6) and France (-5) but they managed to upset defending champion Russia. In that game 213cm Jan-Hendrik led the team scoring 19 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and blocking 2 shots.

Germany, advanced to the next stage due to a better point differential. They did not advance to the quarterfinals stage of tournament, losing to Greece (-8) , Macedonia (-11) and Croatia (-2) Asseco Prokom Gdynia player averaged 9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 0.7 blocks over tournament.

German professional spent three seasons (2001/02-2003/04) at the Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania. Where he averaged 13.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.2 blocks over 28 games. He backed down from 2004 NBA draft, because he had not been guaranteed first round pick.

He came back to Europe and signed with Panellinios Athens and in November of 2004 German Artland Dragons. Jan-Hendrik spent 2005-06 season playing for Drac Inca Mallorca. For 2006-2007 season he moved to Turkey where he was signed by Turk Telekom Ankara and the last two years he represented Joventut Badalona. Jan-Hendrik Jagla was starter for Joventut and helped them reach Spanish League Finals, win Spain Cup, and ULEB Cup. Wherever 28 year old played he averaged more than 10 points and 5 rebounds.
